- Do I really need to bother with search engine optimisation?
That depends
on whether you want your web site listed with search engines and whether you want
to get traffic from search engines. If your answer to both questions is "no",
then search engine optimisation is not something you need to worry about. If
on the other hand, your answer is "yes", then you need to make sure
that your web site is optimised for search engines.
- Why do I need to worry about search engines?
Currently, most people who
look for something on the Internet will use search engines to do so. Consequently,
you can get a lot of traffic to your web site from search engines, assuming
of course that you do want traffic to your web site.
It must be
said here that search engines are not and should not be seen as the only
way to get traffic to your web site. There are many other ways of getting traffic
to your web site, some of which are: listing your web site to directories,
placing ads in strategic places, using pay-per-click services, publishing your
own newsletter or ezine, releasing your own ebook, having your web site listed
on other web sites, writing an article for others to publish in their newsletter
or ezine, . . .
- How important are keywords to the whole search engine optimisation process?
Very
important. The reason for this is that people will use keywords to look for
something when they use search engines. And if you have your web site listed in the first
10-20 in the results page, then you will have a great chance of people who are
interested in your web site coming to your web site. Furthermore,
using keywords will enable you to get just the right visitors. These are visitors
who will already have an interest in what your
web site is about simply because they will see your web site listed following
a keyword search. This is a huge bonus of using keywords as it is very difficult to get someone
interested in something they are not interested in. So if they come to your
web site already interested, this is a great thing!
- If I need help with finding just the right keywords to target with my web site,
will you help me?
Absolutely. Given that keywords are essential to proper
search engine optimisation, if you are not sure how to find
out the best keywords
to target with your web site, then let us know and we will gladly help you.
- How important are meta tags to the whole search engine optimisation process?
Not
as important as keywords. The reason for this is that not all search engines
use meta tags to rank a web site. However, given that some do and that some
directories require you to have meta tags in order to be listed with them, we
would highly recommend that you do use meta tags.
- How important is page rank?
Extremely important. The reason for this
is that search engines will determine how far up the results page they will
list your web site by using the page rank they have given your web site. For
example, Google will only list web sites in its results page that have a page
rank of at least 4.
It must be pointed out that each search engine has its own way of determining
the page rank of a web site. Google for example uses a 100 point criteria. However,
search engines tend to look for the same basic things on web pages to give
it a page rank.
This means that it is possible to either optimise a web site for a specific
search engine
or to optimise a web site for search engines in general.
- How important is link popularity?
Extremely important. The reason for
this is that search engines will determine the page rank of a web site by using,
in part, its link popularity. To show you how important link popularity is, there are web
sites that are listed high in search engine results for certain keywords simply
because they have a very high link popularity for those keywords. And in
some cases, these web sites don't even target these keywords on their pages!
- What guarantees do you offer?
Given that we do not optimise
your web site for you but that we offer you all the information and tools you
need to do it yourself, it is hard for us to offer you any guarantee. However,
we can guarantee that you will find excellent resources in
our resources section, resources that will enable you to optimise every aspect
of your web site. And if you properly optimise your web site, then you will
not only get listed by search engines, but you will have a good chance to be
listed high.
When
we first launched this web site, within 3 months, we obtained a Google page rank
of 2, we had more than 100 inbound links from other web sites as determined
by several search engines. All this was achieved with little effort on our part
as during those 3 months we kept on developing this web site and writing software
for it.
- Are you a search engine optimisation specialist?
Yes and
no. We have not done a course on "Search Engine Optimisation" that
we graduated from. However, like many others, we have learnt all the basics
of search engine optimisation, including tips and tricks, and we are now in
a position of sharing that information with you. We learnt it all by reading
lots of online sources, newsletters, ezines, ebooks, . . . and to save you the
trouble of finding all these resources for yourself, we have decided to put
it all in one convenient place, the customer only section of our web site.
- Do you also offer suggestions for improving page rank and link popularity?
We
certainly do. We cover the issues of using directories to increase your page
rank and link popularity, as well as the idea of link exchanges, using blogs,
high ranking and high traffic web sites where you add an ad and/or a link to
your web site, using press releases,
- What if we have questions that you don't cover in your resources?
Search
engine optimisation is a very broad topic. And while we have made every attempt
to cover all the basics, if you have a question that we have not addressed,
then you can either let us know and we will chase up the answer for you. Or
you will be able to join excellent search engine optimisation forums that we
have listed where you will be able to ask
any search engine optimisation questions you have. The
big advantage with these forums is that you will be able to benefit from the wide
experience of a wide group of people who have been involved in search engine
optimisation for some time. These forums will also enable you to ask specific
search engine questions such as Google or Yahoo . . .
- Once my web site is optimised, will you help me submit it to search
engines?
Search engine submission is covered in considerable details
in our resources section. We even suggest an excellent free program that will
automatically submit your web site to the major search engines, as well as manually
submit your web site to a number of important directories and pay-per-click
sites.
- Will I be able to monitor my progress with search engine placement?
Yes,
you will. We will show you how to monitor whether a search engine has listed
your site or not, what your ranking is for your targeted keywords, your link popularity,
the traffic you are actually getting, . . . All these things are important to
monitor as they will enable you to work on the areas that show little progress.
- What tools do you have that will help me with search engine optimisation?
We
have several tools to make your task of optimising your web site easier: one that will help you thoroughly research the right keywords
you should target, one that will analyse your web site from the point of view
of a search engine giving you advice as to what you did right and what you did
wrong, one that will enable you to monitor your link popularity and number of
inbound links, one that will enable you to keep an active record of all the
directories/search engines you have submitted your web site to (including the
registration details you used to register as some directories require you to
become a member before you can submit your web site), one that will enable you
to build so called "keyword pages" (which is a strategy that enables
you to target lots and lots of keywords with your web site instead of just a
few), and more . . .
- After the initial payment to access your resources, will there
be more payments I will have to make?
To access our resources, no!
Access to the resources we have put together only require the one payment.
Now,
while most of the resources we have gathered are totally free for you to use,
there will be a very
small amount of resources that you will have to pay for if you want to use them.
For example, there is an excellent ebook we recommend you purchase. There is
free program we very highly recommend which has a free version. But if you want
more of the features available, you will need to pay for it. Also, if you want to
be listed at certain directories such as Yahoo, you will need to pay for that
too. But most of the information and tools we offer are totally free for you
to use, and hence require just the one payment.
We also need to point
that we have not set up any affiliate programs with any of the paid resources
we recommend as we wish to be objective about what we offer and we want you
to know that we recommend them because they are good. Not because we will make
money from them.
- Do you also recommend newsletters I should subscribe to in order to
keep up to date with the latest search engine optimisation news, tips and tricks?
Yes,
we do. There is one newsletter in particular we very highly recommend you subscribe
to for the reasons you stated.
- At what level of proficiency is your service aimed at?
"Proficiency"
is such a big word - if you don't understand the question, then read on as the
answer will help you. Our service is ideal for people who know nothing about
search engine optimisation as it will take them from the beginner stage
to the high intermediate stage. This means that if you already know a lot about
search engine optimisation, then our resources will not be as useful to you
as if you were a beginner.
- Why don't you offer money back guaranteed?
We don't
offer money back guaranteed mainly to protect ourselves from unscrupulous people
who will pay to access our resources and then ask for a refund for whatever
reason. In so doing, they will effectively have gained access to our resources
free of charge.
One of the big problems with the Internet is that it
promotes anonymity, meaning that the Internet enables you to do certain things
anonymously. This in turn means that some people will take advantage of that
to behave in ways that they would not if it were to be done face to face. So,
in order to protect ourselves from such people, we have made the unhappy decision
not to offer refunds.
If you have thoughts you would like to share with
us on this, please do so by sending us an email.
We would love to hear from you.
- Is it true that you will give 10% of all your sales to charity?
Absolutely!
We live in a world of such need that we want to do our bit to help those
who are worse off than us. Like most folks, we also find it easy to get
caught up in our own world, pre-occupied with our dreams, hopes and needs. We
have hence decided to try and help those who likewise have dreams, hopes
and needs but who are not in the current position to do anything about it.
